Catasauqua: Opioid forum set for Sept. 27
There will be an open forum on the heroin and opioid addiction epidemic 6 p.m. Sept. 27 in the Catasauqua High School auditorium, 2500 W. Bullshead Road, Northampton.
The school district is partnering with state Rep. Jeanne McNeill, D-133rd, to offer a discussion led by a panel of recovery experts, medical personnel and individuals in recovery.
There will also be a demonstration of administering Narcan and a mock-teen bedroom display to help parents identify where children may hide drugs.

Catasauqua Presbyterian Church, 210 Pine St., will be having a ’50s-style sock hop dance 6-9 p.m. Sept. 29.
Come out and hop to the sounds of Chubby Checker, the Platters, Fats Domino and many more! Dig out your bobby socks and poodle skirts and join the fun.
Enjoy turkey barbecue, snacks and hoppin’ until you drop! Donations will be accepted.

Joe Veshinfsky, Pennsylvania Master Gardener and award-winning dahlia grower, will give a presentation during the Catasauqua Garden Club meeting 1 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Slovak Center Social Club.
Veshinfsky is also a consistent winner at The Great Allentown Fair.
Interested visitors are always welcome as garden issues are discussed. Light refreshments are shared after entry judging and a brief meeting.

The Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association is sponsoring the 13th annual Fest O’ Fall celebration noon-5 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Biery House, 8 Race St.
Rain date is noon-5 p.m. Oct. 7.
Family fun activities include a hay ride, kids’ crafts, face painting, rock painting, games, obstacle course and more. You can make a scarecrow or purchase a kit to make one at home. You can also make a bird house to take home.
Visit the Biery House museum and art gallery. Ice cream will be available for sale inside. The bake sale table offers homemade deserts. Have lunch at the Biery House outdoor kitchen and listen to music by Prugal.
Visit the George Taylor House, where there will be crafts and a program on Lenape culture and contributions of Native Americans starting 1 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.
The Wildlands Conservancy meet and greet with native animals is 1:30-2:30 p.m. The raptor presentation starts 2:30 p.m.
