Board approves resignations
At the Whitehall-Coplay School Board meeting Sept. 10, board members accepted the resignations of Carol Jo Reitz, Future Business Leaders of America adviser at Whitehall High School; Adam Konsavage, math teacher at WHS; Amanda Mast, third-grade teacher at Steckel Elementary School; Antoinette Saliby-Issa, paraprofessional at Zephyr Elementary School and Gockley Elementary School; Jennifer MacDade, Spanish teacher at WHS; David Cressman, math teacher at WHS; Elizabeth Eck, adviser/co-adviser for the dance club, Student Council and Aevidum at Whitehall-Coplay Middle School; Thomas McCarroll, special education teacher at WHS; and Julie Tonnies, Anime Club adviser at WHS.
The board approved the retirement of Audrey Mlynek, cafeteria employee at WCMS.
New appointments included temporary professionals Emily Lepore, third-grade teacher at Steckel Elementary; Richard Tonnies, math teacher at WHS; Joshua Flick, math teacher at WHS; and Julie Pittas, Spanish teacher at WCMS.
Newly appointed salaried substitutes are Steven Swann, English/language arts at WCMS, and Danielle Monroe, English at WHS.
Paraprofessionals Rodina Younes, special education and emotional support at Gockley Elementary, and Heather Moore, activity/reading at Gockley and Zephyr elementary schools, as well as long-term substitute paraprofessionals Lauren Hughes, emotional support at Zephyr, and Pamela Adams, reading at WCMS, were approved.
The board also voted to approve cafeteria monitors Danielle Tavares and MaryBeth Kline at Gockley, Laura Dickert at WCMS and bus driver Wilder Domond.
Abigail Guman was appointed assistant coach for boys soccer, with the compensation of $2,454.
New appointments for club and extracurricular advisers for WHS include Elizabeth Burnett and Jean Marsteller as class advisers for freshmen, with an additional compensation of $1,191; Timothy Cahalan, Dungeons and Dragons Club at $700; and Deidra Herbert, yearbook adviser at $3,273.
At WCMS, Michelle Brownback was appointed as adviser for Student Council at $700, and Katherine DeSalva for Aevidum at $233.33.
The board approved teacher induction participants Jane Razzis, mentor to Emily Lepore, with an additional compensation of $1,250; Mary Bellamy, mentor to Steven Swann, at $625; and Sean Werner, mentor to Danielle Monroe, at $325.
