Cedar Crest College
Peace Paper Project Sept. 26
The director and co-founder of Peace Paper Project, Drew Matott, will be the artist-in-residence from Sept. 24 through 28 for the Cedar Crest College art department.
He will lead daily hands-on open to the public paper making and other interactive workshops and hold artist talks at noon on Sept. 24 in the Skillman Library, Lafayette College and at 11 a.m. on Sept. 26 at CCC’s Center for Diversity and Inclusion’s Cultural Cafe.
Peace Paper Project is an international social action organization of hand paper makers, art therapists, artists and social advocates involved with 35 world-wide paper making studios. For more information, visit http://www.peacepaperproject.org/index.html.
Chen talk on Sept. 21
Staceyann Chin, author of The Other Side of Paradise, will present a reading of her book from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 21 in the Alumnae Hall auditorium at the college.
The author, poet, performer and political activist, who has appeared on CNN, PBS and The Oprah Winfrey Show to discuss issues of race and sexuality, will also sign copies of her book.
She is the creator of MotherStruck, a currently touring solo theater piece directed by Cynthia Nixon and produced by Rosie O’Donnell.
The event is being hosted in partnership with the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center and is sponsored by Cedar Crest Cultural Programming and the Lehigh Valley Engaged Humanities Consortium.

Finance for non-financial managers
Lehigh University will hold a two-day course, on finance and accounting fundamental to making management decisions, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 and 2 at Lehigh University. Topics include financial statements, performance metrics, and analytical techniques to effectively evaluate a business, establish performance standards, collaborate using a common financial language and
techniques to evaluate and value investments in a new product, capital project, or acquisition.

Northampton Community College
Guitar building class
There will be an acoustic guitar building class at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 25 in Northampton Community College’s Fab Lab, Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St.
The beginners level class, which is required for students in the Luthier certification program, covers the essentials of building a reproduction of a 1928 Martin I-18 guitar from machined parts, achieving a robust tone and testing the instrument. No woodworking experience is needed, but enrollment in a basic woodworking course is recommended.

Nonprofit management course
Northampton Community College, in partnership with the Nonprofit Center at LaSalle University, will offer a certificate program in nonprofit management monthly on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Sept. 20 through June, 2019.
The program, which includes access to ten of the most popular and practical LaSalle workshops,
may be taken individually. Participants taking all 10 workshops will receive a certificate. There is a cost which is per workshop.

Farm Market open
NCC’s farm market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday year round outside in the College Quad or, in chilly weather, onthe second floor, Laub Lounge in the College Center.

Lehigh Valley Youth Chorus
Auditions are being held for the Lehigh Valley Youth Chorus, a children’s chorus in residence at Northampton Community College, for girls and boys with unchanged voices in grades three through 12 throughout September in Kopacek Hall.
