LOWHILL TOWNSHIP: Snow White to visit Lehigh Valley Zoo

Lehigh Valley Zoo, 5150 Game Preserve Road, Schnecksville, is hosting a family fun walk for conservation 9-10 a.m. Sept. 15.

Learn more about the zoo’s conservation efforts while getting an up-close look at the African penguins, otters, zebras, oryx, giraffes and Mexican gray wolf during a guided tour.

At the end of the tour, all children will receive a participation medal to commemorate their experience.

There will also be a special appearance by Snow White 9-11 a.m., courtesy of Joanna Bertalan of Professional Singing Princess.

Member appreciation Day at the zoo is Sept. 16.

Members are invited to come at 9 a.m. to visit with three of the zoo’s rarely seen ambassador animals.

Stay throughout the day and enjoy music, raffles every hour, a scavenger hunt for the kids and Geakers Tacos.

The fall wine festival will be on Sept. 22 for adults age 21 and older.

Gather at the event tent to sample a variety of tasty wines and gourmet treats from an assortment of specialty vendors.

For guests under 21 years of age, there will be an exciting line up of fun activities including a giraffe feeding experience, lorikeet landing.

There will also be a kangaroo walkabout where guests will have an opportunity to tour inside the kangaroo exhibit.

They will also be offering some conservation themed crafts and informative and educational keeper talks throughout the day.

Acoustic entertainment will be provided by John Rodden from noon to 2 p.m.

The zoo’s scarecrow building and pumpkin contest is scheduled for Sept. 29.

Christ’s Church at Lowhill, 4695 Lowhill Church Road, New Tripoli, will be having its Harvest Home service at 10 a.m. Sept. 30.

They are asking for donations of canned goods and fresh produce.

All items will be donated to the Christ’s Church at Lowhill Food Pantry.

The Blessings Shop in the food pantry is also accepting children’s socks of all sizes.

If you are unable to make it to the service, contact Bev at 484-707-6591 to make arrangements for dropping off items.

The church is seeking vendors, crafters and yard sale items for its fall fest 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 6.

There is a fee for a space or space with table. Food will be available for purchase and there will also be a bake sale.

Christ’s Church at Lowhill Food Pantry is open 9-11 a.m. the first Saturday of the month and the third Thursday of the month from 4-6:30 p.m.

Senior citizens will be served 10 a.m. to noon. the previous Wednesday.

The food pantry serving Heidelberg, Lowhill, Lynn and Weisenberg townships accepts donations the last Saturday and the third Tuesday of the month from 9-11 a.m. and by appointment.

Donations may also be dropped off at both New Tripoli Banks and ESSA Bank.
