Back to school! Even though I no longer have kids in school, September still always feels like a new beginning to me.

Don’t miss the 16th annual Lower Milford Township Fall Festival 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 22. New this year will be a silent auction 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with proceeds going to help obtain National Historic Registry designation for several sites in the township.

Volunteers and vendors are still needed. If you would like to volunteer or want more information, call the township office at 610-967-4949.

Vendors can find registration forms on the township website, by clicking on the fall festival.

St. Peter’s Union Church will hold the second of two community yard sales 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 22 at the church, 7863 St. Peters Road, Macungie.

The sale will feature a light lunch, including such goodies as hot dogs, egg sandwiches, breakfast items, baked goods and desserts.

St. Peter’s is also having its annual fall antique tractor and implement show 11 a.m. Sept. 15 in St. Peter’s Grove. Tractor pulls and other activities will be featured.

Salem United Methodist Church, 6440 Powder Valley Road, Zionsville, will hold a Rally Day service 10:30 a.m. Sept. 9, featuring a concert by Kira Shcherbakova. A light lunch will be served following the service. A free will offering will be taken. For more information, call 610-965-6796.

On Sept. 27, the Upper Milford Historical Society will hear David Tuck, a Holocaust survivor, talk about his experiences of the Holocaust. He is a regular presenter at the Mid Atlantic Air Museum annual World War II weekend. The meeting begins 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township building. As always, all are welcome.

The Vera Cruz Community Association meets 7:30 p.m. the second Thursday of the month at the fire company. All are welcome. For information, contact Betsy Eltz at 610-965-8627.

The Western District Fire Company on Route 100 usually serves breakfast the first Sunday of the month, 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The October breakfast will be Oct. 7. For information on the breakfasts, call the fire company at 610-966-3541 or Carol Shade at 610-966-3902.

The Upper Milford Fire Company’s ladies auxiliary meets 7 p.m. Oct. 1. New members are always welcome.

The Ladies Auxiliary of Citizens Fire Company of Vera Cruz will meet 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Vera Cruz Fire Department Social Hall.

Vera Cruz senior citizens meet 1 p.m. Sept. 6 and 20 at the Vera Cruz Fire Company. All are welcome.

Lower Milford Township supervisors hold their regular meetings 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 and 20. This month there will be a workshop meeting Sept. 6 and the regular meeting Sept. 20.

Other Lower Milford meetings are as follows; unless otherwise noted, they will begin 7:30 p.m.: planning commission Sept. 10; recreation and open space board, Sept. 12; historical commission, Sept. 11.

Upper Milford supervisors will meet 7 p.m. Sept. 6 and 20.

The Upper Milford Planning Commission will meet 7:30 p.m. for a workshop meeting Sept. 11 and the next regular meeting Oct. 1.

The recreation commission meets 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17. The Joint Environmental Advisory Council will meet 7 p.m. Sept. 24 in Upper Milford. The open space committee meets 7 p.m. Sept. 12. The emergency services committee meets 7 p.m. Sept. 19.
