The farmers market will be open 4-7 p.m. every Thursday through October. Parking is available at the park parking lot and along North Walnut Street.

The Macungie Town Beautification Committee will sponsor A Sip and Paint Night 7-9 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Macungie Institute with Out of Our Minds Art Studio. To reserve a spot, email artclasses@faidley.net. Proceeds benefit the beautification committee.

There will be a Wheels of Time Cruise Night 3 p.m. until dark Sept. 22 at Macungie Memorial Park. Cars can start arriving 2 p.m. Refreshments will be available.

The Friends of the Macungie Institute will host an afternoon of bingo 1 p.m. Sept. 23 at Macungie Memorial Park. There will be cash prizes, food and gift basket raffles. Doors open noon. Proceeds benefit the Macungie Institute.

The Lehigh Valley Fiber Festival will be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 29 and 30 at Macungie Memorial Park. There will be artisans, food trucks, live demonstrations, classes and book signings.

The Autumn Mineralfest will be held 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 6 at Macungie Memorial Park. There will be dealers and tables of minerals, fossils, gems, geodes, crystals and more. Breakfast and lunch are available. For more information, call 610-966-4289 or go to www.mineralfest.com.

The 10th annual Barktoberfest Pet Fair will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 6 at Macungie Memorial Park. Rev. Werner M. Koch of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Bethlehem will conduct a Blessing of the Animals 1 p.m. There will be dog and cat rescue groups and vendors selling pet related items.

The Friends of the Macungie Institute are sponsoring a bus trip to Wayne County Oct. 24. Highlights include a visit to the Wayne County Historical Society, a train ride on the Stourbridge Line, a buffet lunch and a tour of the Dorflinger Factory Museum. For more information, call 610-966-7830.

The next bus trips to Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs are scheduled for Sept. 17 and Oct. 15. Call the park at 610-966-4289 to reserve a seat.

The Macungie Park Board of Directors meeting will be held downstairs 7 p.m. Sept. 25. The public is welcome.

Recently, our family traveled to Roadside America. We weren’t prepared for the size, scope and detail of the exhibit. When you can impress a college student and a middle schooler, that’s something. On our way home, we opted for the scenic route of Old Route 22 with the four of us singing along to “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. Sometimes the simple things are the best.
