Sept. 6

The Emmaus Public Library, 11 Main St., will host its annual Community Heroes celebration 6 to 8 p.m. to give residents an opportunity to meet and thank first responders. Representatives from the Emmaus Police, ambulance and fire departments, as well as the Vera Cruz Fire Company from Upper Milford, will be on hand to give out information and answer questions. Farewell to Summer event 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Triangle Park, Emmaus. Enjoy free family-friendly activities including live music, a circus train trail, craft and food vendors, Chalk the Walk with the Emmaus Arts Commission, “The Greatest Showman” at Emmaus Theatre and a mystery basket cake decorating challenge. “A Tribute to Dorothy Knauss” at the Lower Macungie Township Historical Society museum, Bartholomew Center for the Preservation of Lower Macungie Township History, Camp Olympic barn, lower level, 3120 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Emmaus. Sarajane Williams will offer favorite stories memories and music of harpist Dorothy Knauss, a Macungie native.

Fishing and fun in the park 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Little Lehigh Park, 1600 Park Drive, Allentown. No license or pole are needed. Fundraiser “Pies and Pints” 4 to 7 p.m. at the 1803 House, 55 S. Keystone Ave., Emmaus. Switchback will fire up the brick oven at the 1803 House for all-you-can-eat pizza and salad as well as a sneak preview of their hard cider. Funk Brewing Company will provide beer served in a commemorative 1803 House glass. Russ Rentler will provide music. The donation will include a raffle ticket for the basket raffle.
