LOWER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION
The Aug. 14 meeting of the Lower Macungie Planning Commission focused on residential and business development.
One topic discussed during the meeting was the second phase of the Stone Hill Meadows development. There was a discussion about the recreation fee required with the development.
The planning commission also talked about stormwater collection and a walking path in the development with Engineer Thomas Dredge.
Planners asked to see the light plan for the development. They also had questions about landscaping on the property.
The final land development plan was approved unanimously.
The final land development plan for the Taco Bell at 5374 and 5392 Hamilton Blvd. also was discussed. Project Engineer Bud Newton of Newton Engineering talked about the significant landscaping along the Hamilton Boulevard frontage.
Planners asked Newton about adding outdoor seating to benefit a walking path on a neighboring property. It was questioned if an easement was needed for a fire hydrant. There was a discussion about stormwater pipes on the property.
Newton explained the second building on the property was expected to be an office building. Newton said the plan is to build the office for a specific tenant.
Planners questioned if the office building will be finished by the time the restaurant is opened.
Planning Commission Chair Maury Robert said the commission is concerned since a few projects in the past had put in parking lots and then abandoned the projects. The final land development plan was approved unanimously.
Another project discussed during the meeting was White Orchids. The restaurant is planned for 5036 Hamilton Blvd. There would also be office space on the property.
Newton explained the restaurant would reuse a building on the property that was recently a real estate office. The property would need to have a minimum of two access points onto Hamilton Boulevard.
