Stand-up comedian, actor and voice-over talent, Gabriel Jesus Iglesias, best-known for wearing Hawaiian shirts and his catch phrase, “I am not fat ... I am Fluffy,” is celebrating two decades in comedy with his “FluffyMania World Tour: 20 Years of Comedy,” which stops at 8 p.m. Aug. 30, Grandstand, The Great Allentown Fair, Allentown.

Iglesias says he is most excited about his stop at the Allentown Fair for the funnel cake and fried Oreos.

The Mexican-American comedian from Chula Vista, Calif., has traveled world-wide, sharing his funny way of storytelling. His fans love him for his beaming personality.

Iglesias’s love for comedy began at a young age. He was inspired by Eddie Murphy’s comedy special, “Raw” (1987). That was the first time he thought to himself that being a comedian was something he wanted to do for a living.

Iglesias first comedy show was as a pre-teen when he did impressions of Mickey Mouse and Marvin the Martian.

Iglesias is back on the road after taking 10 months of personal time off to recuperate mentally, improve relationships with loved ones and to improve his health.

Growing up, Iglesias faced many obstacles. He was the youngest of six to a single mother. He turned struggles into developing his sense of humor.

He worked for a cell phone company before he decided to pursue a career in stand-up full-time in 1997. This led him to being evicted from his home and losing his car. He would do performances anywhere he could find a crowd.

In 2000, Iglesias appeared in season six of Nickelodeon’s sketch-comedy series, “All That,” which gave a jump-start to his career.

Iglesias voiced the characters of a Mexican family in “Padre de Familia,” a sixth season episode of the Fox TV animated comedy “Family Guy” in 2007, and began voicing identical twins on “The Emperor’s New School,” a Disney animated series (2006-08).

He has voiced characters in the animated feature films, “Planes” (2013), “The Nut Job” (2014), “Smurfs: The Lost Village” (2017), “Coco” (2017), “Ferdinand” (2017) and “Show Dogs” (2018).

His television work includes “Hot And Fluffy” (2007), “I’m Not Fat ... I’m Fluffy” (2009), “Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand Up Revolution” (2011-14), and “Aloha Fluffy, Parts 1 And 2” (2013).

His recordings include “Hot and Fluffy” (2008), “We Luv Fluffy” (2009) and “Aloha Fluffy” (2013).

Iglesias has performed in more than 25 countries. He’s featured in The Hollywood Reporter’s Top 40 Comedy Players of 2018 issue. He has become one of the most watched comedians on YouTube, achieving more than 370,000,0000 views.

His sixth comedy special, “I’m Sorry For What I Said When I Was Hungry,” was released in 2016.

Iglesias plans to film his next Netflix comedy special in September. A 10-episode series, “Mr. Iglesias,” starts production right after that.

The dream of becoming a successful comedian is what drives him. Iglesias is certain there so much more to be accomplished.

“I keep myself grounded, by remembering that it could all go away at any time. I once spent time living on the porch of a family member’s home. That keeps you humble and remembering where you have come from.”
