With his “Flicker World Tour,” Niall Horan brings his new direction to The Great Allentown Fair for a Grandstand concert, 7 p.m. Sept. 2. Opening the concert is Maren Morris.

Horan, 24, began his tour in March in Kerry, Ireland, and will conclude it in West Palm Beach, Fla., at the end of September.

He was the third of the members of One Direction to go solo and accomplish reaching the No. 1 album slot with “Flicker,” released in 2017, on the Billboard 200 chart.

Horan’s success began at 16 when he appeared on the television show, “The X-Factor,” in Dublin, Ireland, as a solo contestant in 2010. He was eliminated but after semi-finals, the three judges put him together with Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Liam Payne to form a boy band, which Styles dubbed One Direction.

One Direction did not win “The X-Factor” that year, but managed to make the third-place spot. Right after, “X-Factor” judge Simon Cowell, owner of the label, Syco, offered the group an opportunity to record. One Direction’s first album, “Up All Night,” released in 2011, was a best-seller in the United Kingdom and United States.

Horan released his first solo record, “This Town,” in September 2016, reaching No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. His second single, “Slow Hands,” reached No. 11 on the Hot 100.

Horan discovered his love for music at an early age. His music inspirations range from Michel Bublé to classical to swing music.

He enjoys golfing. “I love it. I’m obsessed with it, to be honest. I watch an awful lot of golf on the TV. I love all the stats and when they break down swings. I can tell you who’s top in greens, in regulation, driving distance and stuff like that. I’m a bit of an anorak, but I find it all very interesting,” Horan has said.

Maren Morris contributed to Horan’s song, “Seeing Blind,” for the “Flicker” album. They performed together at last year’s 51st Country Music Association Awards.

Morris is a country music singer, songwriter and record producer. She has released four studio albums, with her debut album, “Hero,” reaching No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart and No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart.

Her debut single, “My Church,” reached the Top 5 on the US Hot Country Songs chart and received a Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance. Her third single, “I Could Use a Love Song,” was her first to reach No. 1 on the Country Airplay Charts.
