Former Falcons hit the fields for fall
Several former Salisbury High School athletes were important members of college sports team last fall. Here’s a look at some who are expected to be back on the playing fields on campuses this season.
Senior forward Mackenzie Groff heads into her fourth season with the Ursinus College womens soccer team. The Salisbury High School graduate has played in 42 games during her career and made 32 starts. She’s scored 10 goals and six assists in her career and was tied for the team lead in goals last season with three.
Kyle Gonoude will be a senior on this year’s DeSales University cross country team. He’s finished in the top 26 three times at the MAC Championship meet, improving on his time in each postseason. Last season he earned All-MAC Third Team honors after a 24th-place finish at the conference championship.
Teddy Denver enters his senior season as a member of the Lebanon Valley College football team. The 2015 Salisbury graduate waited three years to get his first varsity college football action, appearing in four games as a special teams player last year.
Kody Long enters his senior season for the Moravian College golf team this fall. Long played 11 rounds last season with a stroke average of 83.9 and a low round of 74. In 30 rounds over his Greyhound career the Salisbury High School graduate has a stroke average of 82.3.
St. John’s University goal keeper Jordan Kamp started a team-high 14 games last year while compiling a 7-6-1 record. The red-shirt freshman recorded four shutouts.
University of Connecticut wide receiver Mason Donaldson caught 16 passes for 225 yards last season. As a red-shirt freshman in 2017, Donaldson was third on the team with three touchdown catches. He had a 108-yard game against East Carolina on Sept. 24, with six catches and a pair of scores.
Leandra Roelker earned First Team All-PSAC honors in both singles and doubles as a member of the West Chester University womens tennis team. Roelker went 4-1 in conference singles matches and 5-0 in PSAC doubles matches. She enters her sophomore season this fall.
Caylin Meikrantz played in five matches last season as a freshman on the Elon University womens soccer team. She recorded three shots in 60 minutes of play.
