Catasauqua: Cunningham & Associates to take borough park stage Aug. 31

Cunningham & Associates will perform 7-10 p.m. Aug. 31 at Catasauqua Park Amphitheater, 501 American St.

Come on out with your lawn chairs, blankets and refreshments for a fun music-filled evening.

Catasauqua Fire Police will be having a flea market Sept. 1 at the fire training grounds on Race Street.

The event will be held 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

There will be food for sale.

There are still 10-foot-by-10-foot spaces available. Contact 484-951-6148 for more information.

George Taylor House, Lehigh and Poplar streets, will present a program titled “The Life of the Lenape American Indians” starting 2 p.m. Sept. 2.

There will also be tours 1-4 p.m.

There is a rescheduled concert set for 6-9 p.m. Sept. 2. Big Valley Bluegrass Band will perform at Catasauqua Park Amphitheater.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., is having a half-price sale Sept. 4-8.

The shop is closed Sept. 3 for Labor Day.

Everything in the store is half price unless marked otherwise.

Donations of clean used clothing are gratefully accepted during store hours. The store is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Proceeds are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

Catasauqua Garden Club will hold its next meeting 1 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua.

Fred Buse, a Pennsylvania Master Gardener, will share how our local bird population handles a blizzard.

Artistic and horticultural entries should be in place before the meeting starts.

Curious, friendly gardeners are always welcome.

Suburban North Family YMCA, 880 Walnut St., offers a variety of recital dance classes for children of all ages.

Classes range from Mommy & Me to Princess Ballet and various levels of hip-hop and acro, all culminating with an end-of-the-year recital in June.

The eight-month dance program is for boys and girls, and no one is turned away due to inability to pay. Financial assistance is offered to qualified applicants.

YMCA dance is offered at six locations in the Lehigh Valley: Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton/Phillipsburg, Catasauqua, Nazareth and the Slate Belt area.
