NORTH WHITEHALL: Union UCC celebrating Blues Nite Out
Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, welcomes the community to the 15th annual Blues Nite Out in the grove.
The event begins on Aug. 24 with Jake Kaligis and his band onstage 7-10 p.m.
The next night, Bev Conklin and her band will perform 4-6:30 p.m. Vocalist Sarah Ayers and harmonica player James Supra will entertain 7-10 p.m. Saturday.
Organizer Phil Wehr reports the musicians have won multiple awards in the Lehigh Valley.
“The bands enjoy coming up to our church grove to perform for the community and to bring live music to the area,” Wehr said.
The new refreshment stand at the grove will open 5 p.m. Friday and at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Come and see the bright kitchen with its new counter tops and paved table area, and do not forget to notice the lovely big hostas growing throughout the grove.
Food selections include turkey barbecue, pulled pork and sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, chili, baked goods and ice cream.
Shrimp delight will be available Saturday.
Here is an opportunity to enjoy food, fun and fellowship at an outdoor event before the end of the summer season.

Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, is seeking book donations for its annual Book Fest 10:15 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sept. 9.
Used or unwanted new books may be taken to the main entrance of the church 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sept. 4; and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and from 6:30-8 p.m. Sept. 6; or between 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 8.
Textbooks or encyclopedias will not be accepted. Children’s books are especially desired.
Book Fest is free and open to the public. Items will be set up in the gathering space outside the nave and down the hallway.
Children’s books will be available in a classroom.
This event is free and open to the public. And, all the books are free.
Everyone is invited to come out and fill their bags with favorite reading materials.
