HEIDELBERG TOWNSHIP: H.A.R.P. to tour Saylor Park
More to explore! On Sept. 4, weather permitting, Heidelberg Association of Retired Persons, better known as H.A.R.P., will be taking a road trip at 11 a.m. to tour Saylor Park Industrial Museum.
There is a small per person fee payable the day of the tour.
Saylor Park Industrial Museum, also known as Coplay Cement Company Kilns, is an open-air historic site in Coplay.
The nine kilns, built from 1892-1893, were used for the production of Portland cement.
The restored and stabilized kilns now house a cement industry museum.
Following the tour, this busy bunch of retirees will stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
Any retiree interested in going, should contact Katherine Blose at 610-336-0555 or Eleanor Klevenhagen at 610-841-9803.
H.A.R.P. is a local nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to serving the needs of people age 50 and older.
It is not just for retirees or limited to the local residents of Heidelberg Township. The group meets 11 a.m. the first Tuesday of every month at Heidelberg Union Church, 5187 Irving Road, in the Saegersville area.
In additional to traveling to many places of interest, this on-the-go group offers numerous speakers and activities on a monthly basis.
