Weisenberg Township, PennDOT switch roads

Weisenberg supervisors, at their August meeting, approved a resolution making the swap of Old Route 22 for Kecks Road complete.

PennDOT will have Old Route 22 in its road system while Weisenberg Township gains Kecks Road.

The Morgan Hills subdivision was on the agenda for planning module approval and discussion of the driveway agreement for 8996 Wertman Road.

A condition of approval noted the driveway is not to be blocked while the construction of Yorkshire Circle progressed.

Attorney Rob Lewis showed the board a revised plan for 2501 Golden Key Road.

A mobile home park plan was shown to the board previously as well as an approved 15 lot residential subdivision.

The new plan showed five buildings that would be used as a professional center.

Randy Galiotto assisted in the presentation of the plan.

There will be one entrance to the project which will be a short cul-de-sac.

Several members in the audience commented on the proposal.

Robert Snyder said the lots proposed as residential were a better choice while others voiced concerns about traffic and stormwater.

Administrator Brian Carl said the cost to install landscaping around the signs at the township’s two parks would run around $2,000.

A 6-foot by 10-foot area is proposed around the township’s signs.

Supervisor Anthony Werley asked who would maintain the landscaping. He was told it would be the township’s responsibility.

The township’s Environmental Advisory Committee will install the landscaping.

In other business, a speed limit reduction was requested for Kern Road.

Gerald Rusinko asked if the township had a property maintenance code. He was concerned about a property on Siegfriedale Road which reportedly has several unlicensed cars located on it. Carl will investigate.

Carl, wearing his fire chief hat, reported the Weisenberg Township Volunteer Fire Company responded to 152 calls to date.

An apple dumpling sale is currently in progress for the fire company.

He also noted the Cetronia Ambulance Corps golf tournament fundraiser will take place at the Olde Homestead Golf Club, New Tripoli.

Treasurer Jeff Strauss received approval to send the yearly donations to the following organizations: Cetronia Ambulance, $5,000 and New Tripoli Rescue Squad, $5,000.

More contributions will be given out at next month’s meeting.
