Trexlertown Movie Tavern combines dining with flicks

Movie lovers can now make their trip to the movies a step above the traditional popcorn and a beverage experience at the new Movie Tavern which opened recently at 6150 Hamilton Blvd., Trexlertown.

At the push of a call button, patrons may order everything from gourmet burgers to full multi-entrée meals while seated in plush reclining seats in the facility’s 11 auditoriums.

Premium alcohol beverages are offered, as well as, traditional popcorn, candy and soda staples.

An 11-page menu provides offerings for every taste and servers are trained to take patron orders with minimum disruption while the cinema is in progress.

A call button near every seat brings servers to the specific location of a hungry viewer. An expansive lounge area offers diners another option to allow before- or after-show dining.

The Movie Tavern prepares its offerings in a large restaurant-size kitchen area and features a chef-driven menu. Beverages include adult shakes, as well as, standard bar fare.

The menu includes kids fare such as sliders, mac and cheese, chicken tenders and individual pizzas.

Movie Tavern brings a new concept to the Lehigh Valley and the local facility joins more than two-dozen similar facilities in states across the country.

Movie Tavern shows first-run hits, family-friendly releases and cinema from independent producers.

About 200 full- and part-time employees staff the facility with a potential of 270 people working there during busier movie seasons.

The long-planned cinema started its approval process before Lower Macungie Township commissioners in 2015. The facility underwent a several design changes in the review process to meet township requirements.
