New Trexlertown Movie Tavern combines dining with movies

Movie lovers can now take their trip to the movies above the traditional popcorn and a beverage experience at the new Movie Tavern which opened recently at 6150 Hamilton Blvd., Trexlertown.

At the push of a call button, patrons can order everything from gourmet burgers to full multi-entrée meals while seated in plush reclining seats in the facility’s 11 auditoriums that show first-run hits, family-friendly releases and cinema from independent producers.

Premium alcoholic beverages are offered as well as the traditional popcorn, candy and soda beverage staples.

An 11-page menu provides offerings for every taste and servers are trained to take patron orders with minimum disruption while the movie is in progress. A call button near every seat brings servers to the specific location of a hungry viewer. An expansive lounge area offers diners another option to allow before- or after-show dining.

The Movie Tavern prepares its offerings in a large restaurant-size kitchen area and features a chef-driven menu. Beverages include “grown-up” shakes as well as standard bar fare.

The menu includes kid fare such as sliders, mac and cheese, chicken tenders and individual pizzas.

Movie Tavern brings a new concept to the Lehigh Valley and the local facility joins more than two dozen similar facilities in states across the country.

About 200 full- and part-time employees currently staff the facility with a potential of 270 people working there during busier movie seasons.

The long-planned cinema started its approval process before Lower Macungie Township commissioners in 2015. The facility underwent a number of design changes in the review process to meet township requirements.
