Jordan Lutheran Church, Orefield, is one of many congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America participating in “God’s Work. Our Hands” on Sept. 9.

Church members will be engaging in service work to make a positive change in the community and to build a relationship with God.

Activities will include collecting items for the Allentown Rescue Mission and cleaning at the 6th Street Shelter, Allentown.

Other activities are making fleece blankets and visiting nursing homes.

Members will also participate in the Red Sand Project to fill cracks in sidewalks with red sand to increase awareness of the horrors of human trafficking.

The sand is a reminder to not step on the most marginalized people in the community - those who fall through the cracks.
