BASD: Volunteer Clearances reminder

BASD: B.E.S.T. Awards on Aug, 22
The Bethlehem Educational Scholastic Trust Fund, a component of the Lehigh Valley Foundation, will present three awards during Convocation at 8 a.m. on Aug. 22 at Liberty HS, Linden St.
The 2018 recipients are Jacquelynn Venable, Calypso ES kindergarten teacher, The Seymour and Sophie Haber Award for Excellence in Teaching at the Elementary level; Tammy McDonald, East Hills MS gifted teacher, The Bernie Cohen Award for Excellence in Teaching at the Middle School level; and Amber Chiafullo, Freedom HS science teacher, The Anthony Ruggiero Award for Excellence in Teaching at the High School level.
They will each receive a certificate and a monetary award. Their schools will each receive a certificate.
Liberty HS: Band preview Aug. 23
The Grenadier Band public preview night will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Bethlehem Area School District stadium, 1115 Linden St.
Freedom HS: Mini-Thon event Aug, 25
Freedom HS will host the movie “Wonder” for a Mini-thon fundraiser with ticket sales, games and snacks for purchase beginning at 7 p.m. on Aug. 25 on the Freedom HS field. Bring your own blankets and pillows.
Charter Arts hosts leadership summit
Administrators of the Lehigh Valley Charter HS for the Arts, along with its Instructional Leadership Team, held a Leadership Summit to prepare its department chairs and artistic directors for the upcoming school year. The subjects included time to build and enhance relationships, set long and short-term goals, and share strategies for ensuring that the focus of the work is always united and on improving the educational experience.
The Charter Arts school will be closed Oct. 8 for an in-service day.
There will be an admissions open house on Nov. 6 at the school, 321 E. Third St. Tours begin at 5:30 p.m. There will be a presentation by school administers at 6:20 p.m. No reservations necessary. Visit www.CharterArts.org.
Vo-tech car, bike show Sept. 30
Bethlehem Area Vo-Tech is hosting its seventh annual Car & Bike Show Sept. 30, noon-4 p.m., ending with awards.
Food, vendors, music and a basket raffle will be featured. Admission is free, but participation requires buying registration.
