Whitehall Township Public Library: Reading program is ending soon; log your books

The Libraries Rock summer reading program will be ending this week. Please make sure you log all of the books you have read or listened to this summer.

Children from pre-K to 12th grade need to log all books before 5 p.m. Aug. 18. Adults can log books until 5 p.m. Aug. 24.

We will have the third Monday open mic and jam night 6:30 p.m. Aug. 20.

Entertainers interested in performing three songs or a 15-minute set are asked to sign up just before 6:30 p.m.

Musicians, singers, poets, comedians, actors, writers and storytellers, come show off your stuff.

Our movie for August will be “Moana.” It is set for 6 p.m. Aug. 21. The movie is rated PG and runs one hour and 47 minutes. It is an animated adventure and comedy movie.

In ancient Polynesia, when a terrible curse incurred by the demigod Maui reaches Moana’s island, she answers the ocean’s call to seek out the demigod to set things right.

Bethlehem Mounted Police will be at the library 6-8 p.m. Aug. 23. Meet some of the officers and horses that make up Bethlehem’s Mounted Police.

This is a great opportunity to get to know some of the people who work hard to serve and protect you every day and to learn a little bit about what their job entails.

Our Rock Around the Block party will be held 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 25. Everyone is invited to play lawn games and enjoy live music, popcorn, drinks, ice cream and hot dogs.

We continue the fourth Tuesday adult coloring club all year. We will meet 11 a.m. Aug. 28. Anyone 18 years and older is welcome to join us.

The library has some supplies but invites you to bring your own as well.

The adult summer reading program participants will have their wrap-up party 1 p.m. or 6 p.m. Aug 28. Refreshments will be served.

This will be in place of our What Are You Reading Now? book club.

Patrons are invited to chat about whatever books they are reading at the moment - the ones you loved, the ones you hated and everything in between.
