SALISBURY TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT

A special Salisbury Township School District board meeting was held Aug. 6 to approve two new hires to the district.

Directors Joseph Gnall, Mary Ziegler and Susan Lea did not attend the meeting.

Kelly Pauling was approved as the 12-month director of teaching and learning. Pauling replaces Ross Cooper who resigned Dec. 22, 2017, as supervisor of instructional practice for the district. Pauling has been working in the district as a part-time interim supervisor of instruction practice since Jan. 24.

Board President Frank Frankenfield welcomed Pauling, who attended the meeting, and thanked for her work in the district thus far.

“We are thrilled to have you here,” Director George Gatanis said.

Also approved was Michael S. Taylor as chief financial officer/board secretary under a 4-year contract effective Aug. 7. Taylor replaces former Business Administrator Robert Bruchak who resigned effective July 31.

Among the many comments on this appointment, Gatanis said the decision was “a no-brainer. He is very knowledgeable.”

Director Samuel DeFrank said Taylor will be “a true asset to the team.”

Taylor was also approved as an Act 32 voting delegate and as a delegate to the 2018 Pennsylvania School Boards Association Legislative Policy Council.

The next school board meeting will be 7:30 p.m. Aug. 15 in the administration building.
