Camp Jefferson: Campers have fun at Camel Beach
Last week’s camp article was printed in error. The correct week seven and eight follow.
Week seven at Camp Whitehall was a pretty cloudy and rainy week. However, Camp Jefferson beat the odds of the rain July 31 for our Camel Beach trip. Camel Beach was an amazing fun-filled day for the children and counselors as we divided into groups to go explore the park. Camel Beach is equipped with multiple slides, a lazy river and a gigantic wave pool for all ages. We cannot wait to revisit next year, as this week is usually one of the children’s favorites.
The weather the other four days was, however, not in our favor - but this didn’t stop us from having fun! Campers and counselors stayed inside and had fun playing indoor dodgeball tournaments, Handball, Sleeping Lions and Night in the Museum. Campers also enjoyed painting little mini canvases; they were able to explore their creative minds and create an appropriate picture and painting.
As the rain continued to come down and the humidity also not on our side, we continued to enjoy the fun. Pouring rain didn’t stop Camp Jefferson from going into the pool on Thursday. Counselors accompanied campers as we all took jumps and dives into the pool in the rain.
As Friday came around, it was time for the Campers of the Week to be announced. The kids who took the gold were Jade and Steven.
As we approach our final week of Camp Whitehall, Camp Jefferson has had a fun-filled seven weeks. We hope to continue this during our final week!

Week eight has come to an end for Camp Jefferson. It has been quite a year. It seems like it was only the start of camp a few days ago.
The week was filled with fun games and a craft to end the week. Games like kickball, dodgeball and Capture the Flag were all played. The kids were able to run around and let out some energy before we went to the pool and cooled down. The craft for the week was making Hawaiian leis, which corresponded with the week’s theme.
In the middle of the week, both camps saw the movie “Incredibles 2” at the Roxy in Northampton. All the kids applauded when the movie came to an end. If you haven’t seen this movie, I highly recommend going to see it.
This week finished off with the annual picnic, where both camps came together to celebrate another successful year at camp. The food provided by Samuel Owens was a hit and left everyone going back for seconds and even thirds.
The Campers of the Week were Malachi and Nyani, and the most anticipated award, the Campers of the Summer were given to Malia and Aaron.
All in all, it was another successful year at camp, and we cannot wait to see you all next year!
