NORTH WHITEHALL: Union UCC plans outdoor events
Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will have the 10:30 a.m. worship service outdoors in the grove on Aug. 12.
The service will be followed by a picnic with fun, fellowship and food.
During the worship service, Holy Ground from Pennsylvania Adult and Teen Challenge will present inspiring faith stories and music.
Pa. Adult and Teen Challenge is a drug and alcohol addiction rehabilitation treatment center which offers an inpatient clinical arrangement and a long-term residential faith-centered program.
Everyone is invited to a lunch of hot dogs, barbecues, side dishes and beverages.
Afternoon activities include bingo, cake walk, softball and games for all ages.
In case of rain, events will be held indoors at the church.
The men’s group of Union UCC will host a bean bag tournament in the grove 6-9 p.m. on Aug. 14.
This event is for guys and their kids. Food and ice cream will be provided.
The group is planning service projects, trips, hikes and breakfasts in the future.

Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, will have an installation ceremony for Pastor Gordon Camp 1 p.m. Aug. 19.
He began his ministry here in early July.
After graduating in 1995 from Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, Camp served various churches in Pennsylvania. His most recent assignment was Cedar Lutheran, Cetronia.
He takes over from the Rev. Dennis Moore who retired two years ago.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, reports construction of a multiuse building in the village of Monte Margarita, Guatemala, is moving along to provide a health clinic, education space, worship area and more.
St. John’s has joined other United Church of Christ churches in the Penn Northeast Conference to provide funding for the project.
