MACUNGIE BOROUGH COUNCIL

Representatives from Stone Hill Meadows attended the Aug. 6 Macungie Borough Council meeting to present the final/revised plan for the development which is primarily in Lower Macungie Township. The development includes open space and has a trail system which connects with the Lower Macungie trail. Eventually residents will be able to walk from Alburtis to Macungie. The development will have an homeowners association.

Council members expressed a concern with mature tree removal. The developers said they are only removing trees for a reason such as sewer lines or water retention areas.

In other business, the sewer lateral inspection ordinance has been approved. At the public hearing, concerns were expressed about the policies. For instance, there is a wide variety of prices with different plumbers.

Compliments were given regarding traffic control during Das Awkscht Fescht.

Lehigh County Authority charges the borough for water based on an estimate. The borough will be given a $32,000 credit due to the usage being under the estimate.

Due to changes in the Pennsylvania Gaming Grant, Macungie is now eligible for a portion of the money collected from gambling proceeds.

Authorization was made for final payment in the amount of $57,395 for the streetscape project.

The residential rental ordinance was tabled.

The next meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Macungie Institute, 510 E. Main St., Macungie.
