Camp Cementon: Kids have some fun outdoors during Wildlands trip
Week seven was a really fun and eventful week at camp. We were introduced to some new campers who got to take part in all the fun games.
The children were very good this week. They played all games, listened right away and even helped us during our craft-making. The week flew by as so much went on.
On Monday, the children were energized and ready for the week to begin. We played a lot of games outside since the weather was awesome. We played Fastest in the West, Ant Tag, dodgeball and other games. After the games, we went to the pool, and the kids always enjoy that.
On Tuesday, we did most of the same things. It was a little hotter than Monday, so we rotated with games inside and outside to keep the kids cool.
They played more games outside, such as Jump the River, Seek and Hide and Freeze Tag. Seek and Hide is a fun game where one person hides and once they are found, you hide with them until everyone’s hiding. Camper Chelsea R. had a great hiding spot behind a huge tree, and she really enjoyed it.
Wednesday was the day of our field trip. It’s so awesome when all the little campers walk in matching, all wearing the same 40th anniversary camp shirt.
We had some free time in the morning then went to our field trip - to Wildlands Conservancy. The kids went on a hike through the woods. They explored many things, such as plants, animals and a small pond where they collected specimen. They also got to see a snake, a skunk and a hawk. They really enjoyed it.
We were supposed to go rafting, but with thunder in the air, we just saw more animals instead. We saw an opossum, a bunny and a lizard. In all, the field trip was an awesome time.
On Thursday and Friday, the weather was not so great in the morning. We stayed inside and had some free time. Once the skies got better and the sun came out, they played some more games, and we went to the pool both days.
On Thursday, we made our craft of painting small flower pots.
On Friday, we filled them with soil.
The male Camper of the Week was actually two people - our twins, Alex and Conner M. They did an awesome job this week and have always been great kids.
The female Camper of the Week was Melani H. She always helped around, especially with crafts, and is so sweet. These three were very deserving of the award and were very happy when they won.
It was really a great week. Campers and counselors can’t believe there is only one more week left of camp!
