LOWHILL TOWNSHIP: Christ’s Church at Lowhill having camp out, movie night

Christ’s Church at Lowhill, 4695 Church Road, New Tripoli, will have a movie night and camp out in the grove at 7 p.m. Aug. 10.

Campers and tents are welcome. Refreshments will be served at the pavilion.

Movie will start at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Bring lawn chairs or blankets. A light breakfast will be served on Saturday morning.

Camping is optional but come for a summer night of fun and watch a movie under the stars.

If there is rain, the movie will be shown indoors.

Christ’s Church annual outdoor service will be 10 a.m. Aug. 12 followed by a picnic in the grove.

Music entertainment will be provided by DJ Jason.

There will be a slip ’n’ slide for the kids, bingo and a 25-cent back-to-school and goodies walk.

Everyone is welcome for worship and an afternoon of fun and fellowship.

Morgenland Church at Leather Corner Post, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, will be holding it Summer Picnic 4-9 p.m. Aug. 11 in the church grove.

Rain date is 1-6 p.m. Aug. 12.

There will be good food, cake walk, kids’ activities and Country Rhythm Band will perform. For information or to volunteer, call 610-395-0067.

Lehigh Valley Zoo, 5150 Game Preserve Road, Schnecksville, will celebrate Owl Awareness Day with hands-on interactive activities and keeper talks on Aug. 4.

Meet the newest resident owl, Yeti, the Snowy owl.

The zoo’s Beach Blast is scheduled for Aug. 5.

This event will feature a variety of beach and ocean themed activities to help convey the importance of keeping our beaches and oceans clean.

DJ Ray will be spinning tunes noon to 2 p.m.

Come and meet the zoo’s resident sloth, Bean, at the Sloth Meet and Greet 12:30-1:30 p.m. Aug. 9 in the exercise yard.

Join the zoo for Smokey Bear Day on Aug. 11 and celebrate the one bear dedicated to conserving forests and the animals that live in them.

The zoo will be offering an array of hands-on interactive activities including a bear safari, bear themed crafts, teddy bear clinic and keeper talks.
