Coplay: Church picnic is planned for Aug. 5
St. Peter Catholic Church’s 64th annual parish picnic and homecoming is set for noon-10 p.m. Aug. 5 at its spacious grounds at 4 S. Fifth St.
The event begins with a polka Mass 10:30 a.m.
There will be food, including pierogies, pizza, cabbage and noodles, clam chowder, home-baked goods and more.
Large inflated rides and a little train ride for children are also part of the fun.
Bingo will be in the lower level in the church hall.
Emil Schanta Polka Band will provide the music 1-5 p.m., followed by Flirtin with the Mob band, 5:30-9:30 p.m.

The aqua Zumba classes at Coplay’s Parkway Pool continue Monday and Wednesday evenings in August.
There is a cost for the classes.
The pool attendance is bolstered by two day care centers bringing the kids to the pool during the afternoons.

Redeemed Christian Church of God, 5 N. Third St., is establishing a building renovation fund, stating it plans to make major upgrades to the church and parsonage.
It notes the church needs computers, printers, video and still cameras, cleaning supplies and musicians.

Borough council will hold a workshop, open to the public, 7 p.m. Aug. 7. The regular meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 14.

Exchange Club Foundation of Western Lehigh is sponsoring the 11th annual Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays fundraiser for the prevention of child abuse.
Held rain or shine Sept. 14 at 2750 Limestone St., the event includes clays, shells, food, prizes and awards.
The day begins 8 a.m. with registration and breakfast. There is a cost.
