LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Camp Jefferson: Campers catch an IronPigs game

As another week at Camp Jefferson commences, it is custom to reflect upon the events of our previous week. Week six may have been the biggest emotional roller coaster for campers and counselors alike.

In a week plagued by unpredictable weather, the J-Street family tried to keep spirits high! When Mother Nature permitted, we broke in the new pop-up nets with a few competitive games of Handball. The campers also enjoyed staple games, such as Spud and Capture the Flag. Unfortunately, when clouds rolled in, the games had to be taken inside. That couldn’t manage to stop the fun, however, as the campers engaged in activities such as dodgeball and Sleeping Lions inside and safe from the rain.

Luckily for us, the rain held off Wednesday for our field trip. On Wednesday, both camps, Cementon and Jefferson, linked up to participate in the camp day festivities at Coca-Cola Park. The campers got to watch an exciting contest between the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and the Gwinnett Stripers. Much to our Pigs fans’ dismay, the Stripers came through victorious. Despite the loss, many of the campers had a wonderful time. Some took home great souvenirs.

Friday was also jersey day and our craft session. Campers came in wearing their favorite sports jerseys, ranging from baseball legends to a certain Whitehall alumnus. As well as wearing their favorite jerseys, campers also were wearing custom-made emoji masks from this week’s craft.

In a week where every camper was on their best behavior, it was hard for us counselors to select a Camper of the Week. Congratulations go out to Justin and Kamia!

We at Camp Whitehall would also like to wish a speedy recovery to Tanner Z. Camp Jefferson counselors and students are very much looking forward to another fun week and the much-anticipated trip to Camel Beach!
