Western Salisbury Elementary School will hold its New Family Welcome 9:30 to 11 a.m. Aug. 16. If you have a student who will be new to WSE this coming school year, whether they are in kindergarten or any other grade, come out and get a tour of the school, meet some of the staff and learn some of the ins and outs of the building.

The National Night Out and Community Day is almost here! Meet your local police officers, firefighters and EMS 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 7 at Salisbury Middle School. There will be food, a basket raffle, bingo, kids’ games, music, emergency vehicles on display, and much more!

There will also be a dessert contest, so bake or make your favorite dessert and see if it wins. Come out and support our men in blue and have fun with members of the Salisbury community.

After you make your rounds at the middle school, head across the street to Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church for a concert by the Jerusalem Western Singers. This concert begins 7:30 p.m. and all proceeds will benefit Satori’s “Gift of Music” program.

Summer library hours for students in kindergarten through eighth grade are 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. On Aug. 8, the library will be open at SMS. On Aug. 15, the library at WSE will be open. This will be the last summer library opportunity before school starts.

There will be an operations committee meeting 7 p.m. Aug. 6 at the administration building. A special board meeting will precede the operations committee meeting.

The next school board meeting will be 7:30 p.m. Aug 15 at the administration building.

AMC Summer Movie Camp is at the AMC Classic 16 theatre, 1700 Catasauqua Road, Allentown this summer. At 10 a.m. every Wednesday, for a small fee, you can see a movie and get a small popcorn, a drink and a pack of fruit snacks. On Aug. 8, the last movie of the summer is “Boss Baby.”

The Devonshire drop-off is open Aug. 4 and 7. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
