MACUNGIE BOROUGH
A group of volunteers works hard for the Borough of Macungie, known as the Town Beautification Committee, a nonprofit group which works on various projects to enhance the quality of life in Macungie.
Some of the projects accomplished include purchasing and installing the town message boards on Main Street and the Flower Park, spearheading the fundraising efforts to purchase and maintain the town clock and carillon and the purchase of the historic lights for Lehigh Street and the area around the Macungie Institute.
The Earth Day event called “Clean Up Macungie Day” involves participation from the group. The group also assisted the borough in upgrading the electrical connections for utility poles along Main Street.
Holiday events include helping to coordinate pictures with the Easter Bunny, displaying 50 scarecrows in October and assisting with the coordination of the Macungie Holiday event in December.
The committee is sponsoring a Sip and Paint with the Out of Our Minds Art Studio 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Macungie Institute. There is a per person cost to paint and all proceeds will benefit the committee for town projects.
The group continues to fundraise to help fund borough programs and there is always room for new volunteers to help.
