The Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Planning Association, through its Great Places in PA program, has designated Emmaus Triangle Park as a 2018 Great Public Space.
In the announcement, representatives said, “Emmaus is the only town in Pennsylvania with a triangle as its center. The triangle, which has been part of the Emmaus community since 1759, originally served as the location of crops and livestock for townspeople, then as the site of a hotel with a livery stable and wagon sleds.
“Following demolition of the hotel in 1923, the Emmaus Triangle Park was officially established. The park, which is easily accessible to borough residents, has had many improvements over the years. Today, people of all ages frequent the park, known locally as ‘The Triangle,’ to enjoy passive recreation and community events.”
The press release also notes the fountain which is lighted during the evening hours May through October.
Triangle Park joins four other designated public spaces and three designated Greenways/Trails as the 2018 Great Places in PA.
