Red Hat awards presented at folk festival

The Kutztown Folk Festival was the stage for Queen Sharon Billger and her chapter, The Pretty Purple Posies of the Red Hat Society, for Best Red Hat contest.

Using the main stage as their venue, four beautiful ladies, two from as far away as North Carolina, competed for first and second prizes.

Queen Billger of Mertztown, organizer of the event, presented each contestant and asked for an audience response to her Red Hat.

Gauging audience response, Queen Bea Kathleen “Katarina the Red Grape” Trickle of Mars Hill, N.C., was the first-place winner.

A close second was Marion Tiedge of Kempton.
