Coplay Garden Club meets 7 p.m. July 26 at St. John’s Lutheran Church’s social hall, 18 S. Third St.

The club members plant and take care of flowers at public sites, such as the library grounds.

The St. John’s Lutheran Church Bible study group will have a summer cookout and movie July 29 beginning 6 p.m. at the parsonage of Pastor Timothy Boyer, Third and Coplay streets.

Another such evening will be held Aug. 19.

Each year, the Sunday Pool League hosts a charity pool tournament and fundraiser to benefit a local cause or organization. This year, the league is pleased to announce that proceeds will be donated to Diakon Adoption & Foster Care, Lehigh Valley.

The annual fundraiser will be held Aug. 11 at the American Club of Coplay pavilion, 300 Cherry St. Registration starts 11 a.m., and the tournament begins 1 p.m.

There will be a food truck, beverages and mugs available throughout the day, as well as 50/50 tickets and raffles with items donated from many local and regional businesses.

Diakon Adoption & Foster Care has one goal - to bring permanence to the lives of waiting children and youths. Through foster care, foster-to-adopt (legal-risk placements), special needs and domestic adoption, Diakon focuses on uniting children and youths with forever families.

With the completion of road and stormwater inlet construction on Hokendauqua Street, the road closure and barricades in the area of Second through Fourth streets have now been removed.

There is now a road closure sign and barricade going up on Chestnut Street, between Second and Third streets. There are upgrades to underground piping and stormwater inlets underway in the borough.
