At a recent school board meeting, the Salisbury Township School District set the calendar for the 2018-2019 school year.

School will begin for teachers only, no students, Aug. 21.

Orientation for students in kindergarten, sixth and ninth grades will be held Aug. 27.

The first day of school for all students is Aug. 28. School will be in session Aug. 28, 29 and 30 and closed Aug. 31 and Sept. 3 for the Labor Day holiday. School will resume Sept. 4.

Students will not attend school due to professional development days on the following schedule: Oct. 8, Nov. 6, Jan. 21, 2019, March 8, 2019 and May 24, 2019.

Schools will be closed on the following days for holidays: Sept. 3; Nov. 22, 23 and 26; Dec. 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 31; Jan. 1, 2019, Feb. 15, 18, 2019; April 18, 19 and 22, 2019 and May 27, 2019.

Five inclement weather makeup days are included in the school calendar: Feb. 15, 2019, June 6, 7, 10 and 11, 2019. Feb. 15, 2019 will be used if an emergency closing occurs before Feb. 1, 2019. Additional emergency makeup days will be added to the end of the year calendar.

The tentative last day of school for students and teachers is June 11 if all inclement weather days are used.

The early dismissal days have also been announced for parent planning purposes. Parents are asked to notify the school if special pickup instructions are needed for early dismissal days.

At Western Salisbury Elementary School and Harry S Truman Elementary School, a 1 p.m. dismissal is planned for Sept. 14, Oct. 19, Nov. 2, Nov. 15, Nov. 16, Nov. 19, Nov. 20, Jan. 18, 2019, Feb. 1, 2019, Feb. 22, 2019, March 4, 2019, March 5, 2019, March 6, 2019, March 7, 2019, March 29, 2019 and May 10, 2019.

At Salisbury Middle School, a 12:15 p.m. dismissal is planned for Sept. 14, Oct. 19, Nov. 16, Nov. 19, Nov. 20, Dec. 21, Jan. 18, 2019 and May 28, 2019.

At Salisbury High School, a 12:15 p.m. dismissal is planned for Sept. 14, Oct. 19, Nov. 16, Dec. 21, Jan. 18, 2019 and May 28, 2019.
