The Nuge: Ted Nugent brings his brash style of rock ‘n’ roll to Penn’s Peak, Jim Thorpe, for a concert at 8 p.m. July 11. Nugent, a guitar-playing showman, has sold more than 40 million albums and performed more than 6,500 concerts. The Detroit rocker spans five decades of multi-platinum hits, from the Amboy Dukes’ “Journey to the Center of the Mind,” to “Cat Scratch Fever.” Opening the concert: Dave Bray, a Navy veteran and now touring musician, singer and songwriter. Job No. 1: David Allan Coe performs in concert, 8 p.m. July 12, Penn’s Peak, Jim Thorpe. In 1978, Johnny Paycheck had a No. 1 country hit with “Take This Job And Shove It,” which Coe wrote. The song inspired a movie of the same title in 1981. Other songs Coe has written include “Jack Daniels If You Please” (1979), “Now I Lay Me Down To Cheat” (1982), and “Mona Lisa’s Lost Her Smile” (1984), which reached No. 2 on the country charts for Coe, his highest charting-hit as a performer. Book talk: Eileen Potter Kopelman speaks about and signs copies of her book, “The Honorable Asa Packer: His Life and Times,” 1 p.m. July 14, Lehigh County Historical Society’s Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, 432 W. Walnut St., Allentown. “Asa Packer’s name is well-known throughout the Lehigh Valley, yet few people are aware of the true scope of his contributions to industry, politics, and education,” said Joseph Garrera, Executive Director of the Museum. Packer became majority owner of Lehigh Valley Railroad, which in 1855 went from Mauch Chunk to Allentown to Easton. In 1865, Packer gave land and $500,000 to found Lehigh University.
