Special Needs Day is planned

Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, R-134th, and Sen. Pat Browne, R-16th, in conjunction with The Ben Event, will host a special needs awareness day 10 a.m.-1 p.m. July 21 at Macungie Memorial Park, 50 N. Poplar St.

The event will feature providers offering information on services and programs available to the special needs community from local, state and federal resources.

Lehigh Valley Health Network and Good Shepherd Rehabilitation are sponsors of the awareness event.

The Ben Event, held in Macungie Memorial Park in July, benefits the Ben Yorgey Foundation. The foundation gives awards to graduating high school students with intellectual disabilities. The event and foundation are named for Ben Yorgey, a graduate of Emmaus High School.
