Emmaus baker’s chocolate cake wins first place

Seventeen chocolate cakes found their way to the Schnecksville Community Fair June 23, the last day of this year’s fair.

Doing their best to sort out the chocolate cakes were judges Carolee Smith of New Tripoli, and Mike Loder and Tiffany Williams, both from Schnecksville.

The race was close as the judges ate cake, drank water to refresh their pallets and keep their spirits up as they worked their way through all 17 cakes.

When the final fork dropped and decisions were made and agreed upon, Sara Kurtz of Emmaus took top honors with her “Mint Chocolate Chip Cake.”

And following in with a close second was Lorrie Rauch of New Tripoli with “The Ultimate Chocolate and Peanut Butter Cake.”

But not far behind the leaders was Cindy Hendershot of Danielsville with her “Blooming Berry Chocolate Cake” taking third.
