The theme during week three at Camp Cementon was “Red, White, and Blue!” It was the hottest week so far.
Monday was spent out in the sun, playing games such as Jump the River, Hungry Hungry Giant, Silent Ball, Seek and Hide and much more. Due to the heat, we also spent some time playing games inside in the air conditioning like Four Corners and Wonderball.
On Tuesday, all the campers did our craft of the week; everyone got to paint a flag on the white shirt they brought in for the Fourth of July holiday. Each shirt had its own unique look, reflecting each individual’s personality.
There was no camp Wednesday for the holiday, but many campers shared stories of picnics and fireworks Thursday morning.
On Thursday, we went on our field trip on the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway. This consisted of a 70-minute train ride through the scenic areas of Jim Thorpe. There was a great view from the train car, where the river and mountain could be seen. At one point, there were two deer on one side of the train and a huge freight train passing by us on the other side.
Each day ended with the campers cooling off in the pool, where they enjoyed chasing their counselors around in the water. As always, Four-Square was a fan favorite. At some points, the campers used the Four-Square ball in the pool and played Monkey in the Middle.
On Friday, the weather was a little gloomy, so the campers stayed inside and watched “The Incredibles” while munching on popcorn. Luckily, the weather cleared up, and the campers were able to make it over to the pool to swim around and soak up some sun.
Congratulations to our Campers of the Week - Griffin W. and Julia S.
