Antonio Junior Serrano, the man accused of raping his aunt, is in custody.

In a July 6 news release from Catasauqua Police Department, Serrano was apprehended July 6 by Catasauqua Police Department and the Lehigh County Sheriff’s Office in a home in the 100 block of Front Street, Catasauqua.

According to the release, he was taken into custody without incident and transported to Lehigh County Central Booking Center for processing and arraignment.

The 39-year-old allegedly raped his aunt in her home in the 500 block of Third Street, Catasauqua, May 23. After an investigation, charges were officially filed June 12, police said.

According to Catasauqua Police Chief Douglas Kish, Serrano is charged with rape by forcible compulsion, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault by forcible compulsion.

Kish said Serrano stayed in his aunt’s apartment after helping her move in. She awakened that night to find Serrano on top of her, Kish said, and threatened to kill her if she screamed. According to a previous police department news release sent to The Press, the victim resisted but was overpowered by Serrano.

Kish reported an examination at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg confirmed a rape had occurred.

Police reports say Serrano was convicted of killing his foster mother at the age of 17. The archived reports about his murder conviction say Serrano admitted to killing Doris Snyder, 60, because she grounded him and took away his phone after he had stayed out past curfew.
