UPPER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP: Trexlertown Grange to celebrate centennial

Trexlertown Grange, 1183 Grange Road, Trexlertown, will celebrate its 100th anniversary at 6 p.m. June 22.

The grange is a nonprofit fraternal organization community service minded with agriculture roots starting in 1867.

A special program lined up to commemorate this milestone event in the grange’s journey.

The state grange president will be the main speaker.

Membership awards will be presented and entertainment will be by a young man who plays a mean banjo.

Citations from the local senator and state representative will be presented.

Before the program, there will be food and beverages.

Numerous old photos and various other memorabilia will be on display for attendees to view. And, the evening cannot end without some birthday cake.

St. John’s UCC in Fogelsville is sponsoring a bus trip to Sight and Sound theater in Lancaster to see “Jesus” on Aug. 11.

Ziegels Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, will have its first sewing ministry meeting 6 p.m. June 27 to make dresses for Dress a Girl Around the World, a campaign under Hope 4 Women International, a nonprofit organization bringing dignity to women around the world.

They will also be making pillow cases for children who are ill in area hospitals.

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is offering Stories in the Schools for kids in kindergarten and older at 10 a.m. June 27 at Jaindl Elementary School, 1051 Weilers Road, Breinigsville, and 2 p.m. on June 28 at Schnecksville Elementary, 4260 Sand Springs Road, Schnecksville.

There will be stories, games and songs.

Bring knitting materials and spend an afternoon swapping knitting tips and tricks with the Knitting Circle 2 p.m. June 28 at the library.
