Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said Carl Acker II, 49, of Lopatcong, N.J. was struck by a motor vehicle around 2:20 p.m. June 19 on Route 22 eastbound between the Pa. Turnpike on-ramp and Route 309, South Whitehall Township.
Acker was pronounced dead at 4:56 p.m. the same day at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, Grim said.
Grim said an autopsy is scheduled for today, June 20, to determine the cause and manner of his death.
State Police Troop M, Fogelsville, say upon arrival on the scene, a blue Ford Explorer was wedged under the front of a white Isuzu FTR box truck with Acker under the truck.
South Whitehall Township fire departments, Cetronia Ambulance Corps and Hauser’s Truck services assisted at the scene.
No information was provided by state police how a grey GMC Sierra pickup truck and a Freightliner with Stoughton trailer were also involved in the crash.
In addition to the coroners office and state police, this crash is also being investigated by the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office.
