National Amateur Radio Field Day 2018 weekend – also June 24. The Delaware-Lehigh Amateur Radio Club station, W3OK, will be in operation at the Louise Moore Park near Easton and will welcome all amateur radio operators as well as anyone else interested in visiting the station. Approximately 40,000 amateur radio operators across North America will participate in this on-the-air event, making radio contacts with other hams throughout the United States and around the world. This is an emergency readiness drill operating 24 hours – 2 p.m. Saturday until 2 p.m. Sunday, under simulated emergency conditions using non-commercial generator power at our temporary location, the pavilion and field of the park. Event at Lower Macungie Township pool 1 to 5 p.m. Liam Hughes, winner of first down the slide, will kickoff the event with a big splash. Bar None Entertainment will provide tunes and games 1 to 3 p.m. Mermaids from “A Storybook Party” will visit 3 to 5 p.m.

The Lehigh Valley Fibromyalgia Fellowship group will hold its monthly meeting 6 p.m. at Emmaus Moravian Church, 146 E. Main St., Emmaus. Doors open 5:30 p.m. This month’s featured speaker will be Dr. David Alan Gordon, a licensed MD and Pennsylvania certified medical marijuana physician based in the Lehigh Valley. Gordon will share with attendees the intent, scope and process of the commonwealth’s newly operational medical marijuana program. This timely presentation is intended to educate those patients and caregivers who manage chronic pain, of the medical marijuana program, so that they can make fully informed decisions best for themselves and their loved ones. Each monthly meeting focuses topically on tips, tools and resources for those challenged by fibromyalgia and its associated disorders. The meetings are open to anyone in the Greater Lehigh Valley who is seeking resources that may assist them in their individual healing journey. Bill Barto of the Emmaus Historical Society will present a program about the May 1935 airplane crash in downtown Emmaus that claimed the life of Carl Iobst. The Emmaus Garden Club will meet noon at Faith Presbyterian Church, 3002 N. Second St., Emmaus. The program will be “Introducing Ikebana” by Mary Jane Risch. Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arranging. Risch is a master in the Ichiyo School of Ikebana. She has served as program vice president and president of the Philadelphia Chapter of Ikebana International and regularly exhibits at the Philadelphia Flower Show and other places in the United States and in Japan.
