Teen-age angst: Civic Theatre of Allentown tackles timely topics in the Lehigh Valley debut of “Dog Sees God: Confessions Of A Teenage Blockhead,” June 15 - 24, Theatre514, Allentown. The comedy-drama written by Burt V. Royal is directed by Civic Theatre Artistic Director William Sanders. The “unauthorized parody” of the characters in Charles M. Schulz’s comic strip “Peanuts” premiered in 2004 as part of FringeNYC. According to a plot synopsis about the play: “Drug use, suicide, eating disorders, teen violence, rebellion and sexual identity collide and careen toward an ending that’s both haunting and hopeful.” The play is recommended for ages 14 and older. Roper returns: The Dave Roper Trio returns to the “Jazz Upstairs” series, 7:30 p.m. June 15, Rodale Community Room, Miller Symphony Hall, Allentown. Dave Roper has been playing piano as part of a trio at Lehigh Valley locations for nearly 60 years, including a 15-year stint at the former King George Inn, Dorneyville. Peak country: Country singer Mark Wills performs in concert, 8 p.m June 15, Penn’s Peak, Jim Thorpe. Wills is a multi-platinum selling country music star with two No. 1 and six Top 10 hits, including “19 Something,” “Wish You Were Here” and “Don’t Laugh At Me;” each of which received nominations for Single, Song and Video of the Year by the Country Music Association. “19 Something” spent six consecutive weeks at No. 1 in late 2002-early 2003, was chosen Billboard’s Country Hit of the Year, and was the second most-played song of the decade.
