Deputy Upper Milford Emergency Management Coordinator Jim Krippe told Upper Milford Township Supervisors June 7 he will apply for a position as manager of the township’s emergency management service.
Krippe said the job is a volunteer position.
Krippe told The Press he is also the emergency management coordinator for the Borough of Emmaus, which is a paid position.
Krippe said Lehigh County emergency management authorities have concurred with him occupying both positions.
According to the job description available on the township website, the emergency management coordinator “performs administrative and technical work in the development, implementation and coordination of the Upper Milford Township’s Emergency Management Program; coordinates and acts as liaison for the Upper Milford Township’s Emergency Management Program; coordinates and acts as liaison for the Upper Milford Township’s disaster recovery efforts; oversees the disaster training, exercises and public awareness programs; and performs related duties as assigned.”
The coordinator is under the general direction of Upper Milford Township Manager and Upper Milford Township Supervisors, according to the job description.
Upper Milford Township Supervisors also gave Township Manager Bud Carter permission to hire a full-time employee in the Public Works department. The position pays $20 per hour.
An Emmaus Public Library representative attended the meeting to distribute information announcing the library’s 2018 summer reading club and a kick-off party 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 16 on the lawn of the Emmaus Public Library at 11 E. Main St., Emmaus.
In other business, the supervisors authorized payment of bills among which were: Bechtelsville Asphalt -- $13,067.73; Deere & Company -- $10,942.28; Ott Consulting, Inc. -- $30,760.66; Pennsylvania Municipal Health Insurance Cooperative -- $18,020.25; Ram Siding Company, Inc. -- $61,546.
