Hazel A. Major, 77, of Macungie, formerly of New Tripoli, died on June 9, 2018, in Heather Glen Senior Living, Allentown.
She and her husband W. Anthony Major were married 55 years.
Born Dec. 17, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William G. and Virginia M. (Sherrow) Klein.
A 1963 graduate of Bowling Green University with a Bachelor’s degree in education, she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority Alumnae Association.
She was a substitute teacher in the Northwestern Lehigh School District for 28 years before retiring.
A member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield, she was a volunteer at Lehigh Valley Hospital for many years.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by children W. Anthony Major Jr. and his wife, Janine, of Thoreau, N.M., Scott A. Major of Hometown, Donna M. Edmonds and her husband, William. of Edinboro, Douglas M. Major of West Hazleton, Rebecca A. Weaver and her husband, Jacob. of North Wales; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. June 25 at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield.
Family and friends may pay their respects 10-11 a.m. Monday in the church.
Inurnment will follow the Mass at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
