Breinigsville woman charged with Jaindl Elementary theft

A 33-year-old Breinigsville woman was charged with theft after allegedly taking a blue folder containing $100 and raffle tickets worth $825 from Fred J. Jaindl Elementary School, 1051 Weiler Road, Upper Macungie Township, around 2:30 p.m. May 18.

According to an affidavit of probable cause obtained from District Judge Michael Faulkner’s office, Upper Macungie, School Resource Officer William Rohrbach said he was told on or about May 18 by a representative of the school about a folder taken from the stage podium.

Rohrbach said while watching video footage of the school exit area just outside of the stage, he allegedly witnessed Roberta Marie Wilcox look into a red 2015 Chevrolet Suburban, which contained other raffle tickets and items for the evening’s PTO basket raffle fundraiser.

Rohrbach states Wilcox allegedly pulled on the door handles twice in an alleged attempt to enter the vehicle but was unable to as it was locked.

Wilcox then allegedly entered and exited the school multiple times to drop off baskets for the raffle before gathering her two children and leaving the school.

Rohrbach asked the PTO to obtain a range of numbers for the stolen tickets and to be notified if one of the winning tickets was pulled at the raffle that evening.

He was advised by a PTO representative one of the stolen tickets was pulled and claimed by a couple attending the raffle.

Rohrbach spoke with the couple who allegedly told him they were given the ticket by Wilcox.

He then spoke with Wilcox, who allegedly said she found the tickets on the stage, but did not know about the missing folder or cash.

Rohrbach told Wilcox he would be speaking to the PTO about possible criminal charges, before telling her she needed to leave.

After Wilcox was escorted off school grounds, she allegedly returned to speak to Rohrbach and to return the blue folder and some of the unused stolen raffle tickets.

Wilcox allegedly told Rohrbach she was willing to pay back the missing cash but she had not taken the cash.

She was again told to leave school property and not return that evening.

Rohrbach states in the affidavit, he spoke with the PTO president, who confirmed they wanted to pursue criminal charges for the 55 sheets of tickets and cash that were stolen.

According to a representative at District Judge Michael Faulkner’s office, an automatic criminal arrest warrant was issued for Wilcox.
