Bach at noon:
The fourth summer of Bach’s music in Allentown begins June 12, with the first of three “Bach At Noon” performances by The Bach Choir of Bethlehem at St. John’s Lutheran Evangelical Church, 37 S. Fifth St., Allentown.
On the second Tuesday of the month in June, July and August, The Bach Choir will present noontime performances, free and open to the public.
“Bach At Noon” is a series of 10 free concerts the Bach Choir performs each year, including three in Allentown in association with the “Arts at St. John’s.” The Choir will offer three festive Cantatas for Pentecost this summer, along with additional pieces by Bach for the July and August concerts to be announced.
The June 12 program includes: J.S. Bach, “Prelude and Fugue in C Major,” BWV 547 (The “9-8”), Greg Funfgeld, Bach Choir Artistic Director-Conductior, organ, and Cantata 74, “Wer mich liebet” (“Whoever Loves Me”). June soloists are Julie Bosworth, soprano; Laura Atkinson, mezzo-soprano; Charles Blandy, tenor, and Christòpheren Nomura, bass.
Concerts begin at 12:10 p.m. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. A free will offering will be received.
