Moore Twp. Connie Mack team now 5-1

The Moore Township Connie Mack baseball team used a strong pitching performance and aggressiveness on the base paths to secure a 5-1 victory over Coplay on Friday, June 1.

Gavin Lalik allowed one run and three hits while pitching a complete game.

After scoring off a leadoff double in the second inning, Coplay placed runners on second and third with no one out in the third inning. Lalik forced two fly-outs and recorded a strikeout to escape the jam unscathed. He allowed only one base runner the rest of the game.

The Moore Township bats were held quiet for most of the evening, but they did plenty of damage on the base paths.

In the top of the fourth inning, leadoff hitter Jake Menio drew a walk, stole a base, and advanced to third on a wild pitch. He scored on an RBI single from Logan Wolfe.

Moore Township would repeat that formula in the fifth inning when Justin Taylor recorded a single, stole a base, advanced on a wild pitch, then scored on a sac fly from Lalik. Mickey Rimbey scored on a wild pitch later in the fifth to give Moore Township a 2-1 lead.

Lalik broke the game open in the seventh inning with an RBI single that scored Nate Rex.

Following a 5-3 victory over Hellertown on June 2, Moore Township improved to 5-1 on the season. They host Salisbury on Friday, June 8 and Northeast Bethlehem on Saturday, June 9.
