Playing through: The Pennsylvania Playhouse, Bethlehem, presents “A Fox on the Fairway,” written by award-winning playwright Ken Ludwig, and directed by George B. Miller, June 1-2, 8-10 and 14-17. A tribute by Ludwig (“Lend Me A Tenor,” “Moon Over Buffalo”) to the great English farces of the 1930s and 1940s, “A Fox On the Fairway” takes place at a private country club. Filled with mistaken identities, slamming doors, dueling golf clubs, and romantic shenanigans, the comedy has been called “hole-in-one hit.” Putting on the show are, above, George B. “Fresh” theater: The “Fresh Voices” showcase of original works returns to the Touchstone Theatre, Bethlehem, stage, 8 p.m. June 1 and 2. The annual event this year features original works-in-progress by Chloe Anne Madison, above left, Touchstone 2017-18 apprentice. The evening will feature two works around the theme of artistic creation. Madison’s solo work is an abstract exploration of the parts of the creative process that involve letting go, breaking away from the inner critic, evolving, and constantly trying again. For the second work, Madison teams up with Lehigh Valley comedienne Samantha Beedle, above right, to collaboratively create a work that muses on the balance between order and chaos. Their two characters explore the inherent spontaneity of the encounter between artwork and audience, and the difficulty of trying to replicate it. Tickets: Touchstone Theatre box office, 321 E.
