Turning Point expands into Northern Lehigh

In an ongoing effort to increase accessibility of domestic violence services throughout the Lehigh Valley, Lori Sywensky, executive director of Turning Point of Lehigh Valley, announces expansion of counseling services into the Northern Lehigh Area.

They have received a municipal commitment from Slatington Borough and are grateful for this partnership, which will make Turning Point easier to access for people in Slatington and the surrounding communities.

This announcement comes on the heels of a recent announcement of new space in the Northampton County Courthouse.

Slatington Borough Hall is now the sixth satellite location in the Lehigh Valley.

“This additional counseling location reinforces the need to prioritize accessibility of our services for our clients. Our goal is to continue to reach as many people in all corners of the Lehigh Valley,” commented Lori Sywensky.

As a result of this partnership, Turning Point is able to offer another safe, accessible location for those who might not be able to reach their other locations.

“We are proud to be making great strides to expand our supportive services to all who are affected by domestic violence in our community,” Miriam Rivera, counseling director shared.

Turning Point continues to branch out into Lehigh and Northampton counties in order to make their confidential, at no cost services available to more people.

In addition to the office in the Allentown and Bethlehem area, they have recently opened satellite locations at the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center, Third Street Alliance for Women and Children, and VAST (Valley Against Sex Trafficking).

Furthermore, Turning Point of Lehigh Valley has offices within the Lehigh and Northampton County courthouses which gives survivors and court advocates a safe space for counseling before and after PFA hearings.

Turning Point of Lehigh Valley offers individual and group counseling, temporary emergency shelter, prevention education programs, court advocacy, community outreach and medical advocacy.

Turning Point’s mission is to eliminate domestic violence in the Lehigh Valley through empowerment, education, and engagement.
